
Jonathan GentonSenior Managing Partner And CEO
Jonathan A. Genton is a Senior Managing Partner & Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of Genton Cockrum Partners (“GCP”) which includes roles as the CEO and Managing Director of Genton Property Group and Senior Managing Partner of Southern Pacific Realty Partners. He is responsible for all aspects of operations for GCP, including acquisitions, development, financing, asset management, and sales and marketing. Mr. Genton is currently developing the Four Seasons Residences Los Angeles.
Prior to forming GCP, Mr. Genton was the President and Managing Partner for Watt Genton Associates (“Watt Genton”) a real estate development company which developed over $250 million of commercial and residential properties throughout the United States with focus on California.
Before forming Watt Genton, Mr. Genton acted as COO of Helios Property Company (“Helios”), a private real estate company affiliated with the Pritzker family. Helios was a development platform which invested in distressed development and entitlement opportunities throughout the United States.
Previously, Mr. Genton was a Vice President of SunAmerica and President/Chief Operating Officer (“COO”) of Solus Property Company, LLC (“Solus”), an affiliate and managing partner of SunAmerica Realty Partners. Solus acquired and managed properties and mortgage interests in over $900 million of assets acquired from the Resolution Trust Company or RTC including five hotels with over 1,600 rooms.
Mr. Genton began his 35-year career with Murdock Development Company (“Murdock”) a real estate development and investment company based in Los Angeles. While at Murdock, Mr. Genton worked on the entitlement and development of large scale master communities throughout California and Hawaii including Sherwood Country Club and Residences in Westlake, CA.
Mr. Genton is a member of the Policy Advisory Board, Fisher Center for Real Estate & Urban Economics, University of California, Berkeley and a full member of the Urban Land Institute. Education: University of California, Los Angeles, BA in Economics.
William Cockrum, IVSenior Managing Partner and President
William (Bill) M. Cockrum, IV, is a Senior Managing Partner and President of GCP including roles as Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”), Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and Managing Director of Genton Property Group, President of Lodestar Global Realty, and Senior Managing Partner of Southern Pacific Realty Partners. He is responsible for all aspects of operations for GCP, including acquisitions, development, financing, asset management, and sales and marketing. Mr. Cockrum advises Kamehameha Schools, a private charitable educational trust and Hawaii’s largest landowner, with regard to development in Hawaii. He also has an advisory role with Lowe, a national real estate investment, development and management company, with regard primarily to aspects of the firm’s capital raising efforts.
Prior to GCP, Mr. Cockrum was CIO and CFO of LandCap Partners, a national residential land investment business sponsored by Goldman Sachs’ Whitehall Funds and NorthStar Realty Finance Corp. with a $350 million commitment.
Previously, Mr. Cockrum held senior positions with Barrow Street Capital, where he was President and member of the Investment Committee responsible for the west coast office/investments and fundraising. His acquisition and asset management experience included 19 investments totaling $1.5 billion.
Mr. Cockrum also worked at Merrill Lynch for over ten years in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, holding senior positions including Director and Head of the West Coast Real Estate Investment Banking Group. His completed transaction experience includes 55 financings and advisory assignments totaling $11.6 billion.
He began his 28- year career with Grubb & Ellis as a commercial real estate broker in Los Angeles.
Mr. Cockrum is a licensed California Real Estate Broker (#01109914) and was previously a N.A.S.D. General Securities Principal. He is or has been a member of the Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, International Council of Shopping Centers, National Association of Real Estate Investment Managers, National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, Pension Real Estate Association, and Urban Land Institute. Education: University of California, Santa Barbara, BA in Business Economics.
